Program Description

Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) is an auriculotherapy protocol (ear acupuncture) that is one of the strongest protocols for pain reduction. In some cases, BFA can reduce pain faster than most narcotics.  Results can be felt by the patient in minutes. BFA uses a specific type of auricular needle known as an ASP® needle.

Friday’s Topic: Basic Battlefield Class

• The history of Battlefield Acupuncture – one of the strongest protocols to reduce pain in minutes!
• Illusions of the ear.
• Why use Battlefield Acupuncture? What conditions can it treat? 
• How to properly insert ASP® (auricular) needles; the most effective needle for the protocol.
• Conditions that can be treated by Battlefield Acupuncture.
• Point Location and their Function. 
• Precautions to take and when to stop needling. 
• Know ABO blood type to improve patient actions. 
• Ear Care and Follow-up.
• How to successfully incorporate the protocol into your practice. 
• During the afternoon clinical portion, the technique will be demonstrated on volunteers.

Saturday’s Topic: Advanced Battlefield Acupuncture and Clinical Pearls

• Learn to use fewer needles to improve results and extend the duration of pain elimination or reduction!
• Incorporate some basic Nogier’s 3 Phase Acupuncture to enhance your results.
• Obtain a comprehensive understanding of when and how to use different types of metal ASP® needles to achieve faster and better results.

About John Howard

John Howard is a Professor of Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Upon completing his Chinese Medicine studies, he entered a 5-year fellowship with the US Military. He is the protégé of of Dr. Richard Niemtzow (founder of Battlefield Acupuncture) at Andrews Air Force Base / Walter Reed Army hospital working with Wounded Warriors.

John has authored nine books and over 25 articles on Acupuncture and Auriculotherapy. He is dedicated to the promotion of knowledge and has been awarded the dissemination of seminal works by Dr. Raphael Nogier, the son of Dr. Paul Nogier, the Father of Auriculotherapy (The RAFT (Radial Artery Food Test) and of Dr. Rene Bourdiol (Elements of Auriculotherapy).
